Established in 1976 as an informal network of women helping women, AWIC Community and Social Services has today grown into a multicultural non-profit organization serving every member of the community. Recognized at the municipal, provincial and federal levels of the government, it has become an integral part of the Canadian ethnic mosaic.
The key factors of AWIC’s success are its objectives which have helped create a congenial environment to promote understanding, harmony and mutual respect for one another. Its programs and services are designed to support women, seniors, families, and youth to help them meet their social, emotional and cultural needs.
As a social services agency, it provides information, education, counselling, settlement and engagement services to all members of the community to facilitate their integration into the society. Its breadth of services is enhanced by the fact that it offers services in 20 different languages.
